Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL)
(CFL) Product Sheet
As the largest oil exporting country in Africa, Nigeria contributes to the highest dependent of fossil fuel in driving its real sector. With about $10billion annual revenues in oil exports, majority of Nigerians live in absolute poverty, unable to afford any type of fossil fuels themselves and without any access to the grid. The grid itself is intermittent and unstable. Oil producing regions are rife with civil conflict and environmental devastation. Gas flaring for decades, wasting valuable natural resources makes Nigeria the largest greenhouse gas emitter in Africa.
Residents across the country face a wide challenge on poor and low power outage, energy load distribution rationing and incessant breakdown of transformers leaving most regions on a total blackout due to PHCN inability to meet up with its heavy energy need.
MEETING THE NEED
With the growing need in energy distribution, homes and businesses create more energy to meet its need by consciously lowering the consumption of electricity within its facility. More energy could be re-distributed to underserved regions by replacing the old incandescent bulbs with the new Compact Fluorescent lamps (CFL). A 30% energy gain is hoped to be achieved as we fight climate change.
